My cut failed or seems stuck
A few things to check, quickest first:
- Give long footage time. Transcription and editing scale with source length — a long interview genuinely takes a while on the first (fresh) pass. Re-cuts of the same footage are fast because the transcript is cached.
- API keys (internal builds). If you manage your own keys, a run stops at the first stage without a valid Deepgram (transcription) and Anthropic (editing) key. Add them under Settings (⚙).
- Network. Transcription and editing need a connection; a dropped connection surfaces as a friendly error and the run stops safely — your footage is untouched.
- Not enough usable speech. If the footage is very short or mostly silence, FirstPass will say there isn't enough speech to build a cut. Try a longer clip or check that you picked the right audio track.
- The app looks frozen. Reopen the project from Projects — a finished run is saved even if the window lost the connection mid-way.
